Before I came to Dr. Schisler’s office I tried many treatments: acupressure, acupuncture, TENS, ultrasound, along with different chiropractic treatments. Massage helped for a little bit but the soreness and pain were always there.

I injured my back at work in 1992 and 1994 – tried different kinds of treatment and medications without success. I had been having trouble with my neck for years until it all came to a head about 3 years ago. Pain, swelling, inflammation at the back of my neck, numbness and tingling down my right arm until half of my hand went numb. I began to lose strength and function.

Every time I bent over or sat it was like I’d stuck my hand in a light socket. One day I woke up and couldn’t even lift my arm. Turns out I had 2 herniated discs in my neck and at serious risk of ending up paralyzed from the neck down. Not having other options at the time I had the surgery, discectomy and fusion at C6/7.

Within 2-2 ½ years I started having problems again, which is typical with fusions. An MRI done in Aug 08 showed another nasty herniation directly above where I’m fused and 2 more degenerating discs above that. I was having the numbness/weakness in my right arm again, pain, headaches. I was afraid I might not be able to work any more and the idea of surgery was being tossed around again.

After consulting with Dr. Schisler and my neurosurgeon, we decided to go ahead with decompression treatments. The results were amazing! Numbness, weakness, muscle spasms, pain – ALL GONE! And the best part is that I won’t need surgery. I even got about 90% of the feeling and sensation back in my right index finger, which had been dead numb for 3 ½ years! As an ER Registered Nurse I did a great deal of lifting patients which resulted in lumbar pain for many years. In Dec 05 I had a CT scan which showed a herniated disc and spinal stenosis. It wasn’t until I displaced the second lumbar disc that I couldn’t tolerate the pain. I tried physiotherapy for 4 ½ months, 3 times weekly. “My name is M. D. and am 68 years old. I never had any aches or pains to complain about and then on Sept 11, 2000, I was hit by a truck while walking across the street. I have seen almost every doctor in Windsor including a brain specialist for memory loss. I was sent for an MRI and it was found that I had three herniated discs from L3-L5 in my lower back and another in my neck at C2-C3. My left knee also needed to be replaced. I also have drop foot due to nerve damage.

Before the accident I was in great shape. I was active in the gym most of my life and walked 14 km per day. Since my accident I cannot walk across a store without my left foot dropping and the possibility of falling. I walk with a cane and could not climb up or down stairs without pain. I could not stand for more than 10 minutes without severe pain and housework and cooking are definitely out of the question.

My back is severely herniated and swollen from the waist down. I went to a neurosurgeon who said I needed surgery but he was leaving for the USA and did not refer me elsewhere. I waited 2 years to see another neurosurgeon and he said it would be 5 to 9 months before he could do a 5 hour surgery. He told me eventually I would be losing bowel and bladder control and then end up in a wheelchair.

I was severely depressed and taking 27mg of morphine for the pain. There was nothing left to do but wait for the wheelchair or the surgery.

Then one day my husband read an ad in the Star that I thought was a joke. I called anyway and received information on non-surgical spinal decompression.
I made an appointment to see Dr. Schisler. He looked at my case and said I was a candidate for non-surgical spinal decompression. He accepted my case and explained all about the procedure. After the first treatment I felt like a million bucks. After the first week I lowered my morphine to 6 mg. After a year and a half, I know I will no longer be dependent on it.

After the second week I am able to breathe normally. I no longer feel as if I have a weight sitting on my lungs. I can walk as well as anyone else. I no longer rock from one side to another. Amazingly, the swelling in both my back and knee are down. My knee is half the size!

I also notice my feelings are different. I am no longer so angry nor do I appear so angry and in so much pain. My friends can’t believe the changes that they see in me. They say my colour is better and I look happy. I look like a different person.

I still can’t believe how great I feel. The quality of life I have back is worth more than a million bucks. I recommend this treatment to anyone who suffers from back problems. No regrets!!!

After many disappointing results from numerous doctors and health care specialists, who diagnosed me (as far as I was concerned, wrongly) over the past 2 decades, a final cat scan showed multiple levels s of bulging and degenerative discs in my lower spine. My life had become very limited as to what I could do, and many things I enjoyed had been given up.
